Shut TightMouth sewn tight
Shut forever silently
Secrets never revealed
Yet upheld promptly

What rests behind this web of lies
This lingering false shroud of hope
This cold calamity that's life
As truth no longer equals sanity

SparkWhen you gaze within these hollow eyes of mine..
Tell me what do you see?
Do you see things of love, things divine?
Can you tell me, do our souls entwine?
 
Are they empty, as a beach without a sea?
Are they full of passion, are they fiery?
Do they glisten like the stars?
Or are they dead, filled with scars?
 
When you gaze within these eyes of mine..
They eagerly stare right in thine.
Not hollow or dead as mine may be,
They’ll spark up and glisten from the deepest depths.
As they resonate.. within your head.
Wise Advice - Valentine's DayMy great-grandfather used to tell me, "Don't chase after hearts because you'll only end up with a hole in your chest." I never quite understood his advice until one Valentine's day, I was gardening with my best friend Latifah. All of a sudden, we found an underground tunnel! It was bloodstained  and spooky sounds came from deep within. Latifah saw something interesting inside, jumped in, and I never saw her again. Great-granddaddy was right!
The Angel's LamentationThe world shall be cleansed, bathing in the tears of angels.
The world down below falters under beating silver rain,
As the sun ceases to radiate, Earth ceases to create.
 
There will be no lament for the fallen, when even the pious lose hope.
In the hours of despair the just will suffer underneath the empty skies.
 
Wickedness takes hold and corrupts even the purest
Light fades to black – no longer grey.
 
Pour down the onslaught of divine creation,
Shower and batter us until our souls are purified by
the angel’s lamentation.
Imaginary RestraintsTrouble rose across the border of
imaginary silver clouds, crashing into the velvet shores and scarlet tinted seas.
 
The clouds tearing apart their sense of apathy,
the lingering sentimental fake oceanic tranquillity.
 
As waves flow away from shores
Velvet and crimson;  we abhor.
 
Scarlet, and crimson, velvet too,
Red stained satisfaction, so deliberate, so untrue.
Grace the horizon shores and sea,
Puncture their silence and baptize me.
 
Abominable colours, overflown.
Cast away my jaded crown,
Throw it right on down the seas.
For they shall hold no more imaginary clouds nor false tranquillity.
ErodeWhen the walls around you slowly crumble
As fleeing sand through the cracks of an hourglass
Burry the green scenery underneath an overwhelming dullness.
And the sand just keeps seeping through with a constant motion,
A constant stream.

When all surroundings turn to visions of a dying dream.

Try to close the cracks created throughout time,
As the sand slowly engulfs your oasis.
As it erodes your psyche further
Until there's nothing left,
Until the last grain of sand seeps out
Flows further away, with the last part of your sanity.

The hourglass heavily strained, under everything it contains.

Reverse the flow, recapture sanity.
To howl in vainAnd though I howl at the wind
Never will it whisper back
Nor give my words a second breath
Or make your surface crack.

These words only weigh me down
Yet hardly touch nor move thee.
Out of touch, so far from me
I fear my words shall only drown.

And though I'll howl them at the wind
Never will they echo back

For they're lost upon the ocean breeze
Traverse all waters graciously
given flight over every sea
Yet always fail to reach thee.
Bird of PreyWhy would you go about killing pigeons
Those pigeons that roam our streets
Night and day – day and night.
 
They feast like birds of prey
Prey on all that is to decay.

Why would you go about
Destroying innocence.
Instead of letting it roam freely.
It’s not like it preys on.. you.

The only predator on the street,

When eyes no longer see.When the eyes suddenly cease to grasp reality
(A) Reality that is fixed upon a set of rules
Rules given and enforced freely
Freely by some deluded madman.
(But) Madmen create not reality
Reality becomes inevitably harder to detect
Detect the thin line between imagination and sanity.
Sanity escapes our minds freely as it retreats itself from our society.
(A) Society no longer worth living.
The PastorThe pastor once prayed to the heaven
Inquired ‘bout the sins of the seven
Never did he know
Lust he did show
When he went for a whore past eleven.

When you touch me, I quiver from terror and delight.

I laughed and taunted you to no end, but suppressed
within was a small, growing dream that someday,

Rotting WithinMy hand reaches my lips as they part, salivating at the rotting taste that is to meet my taste buds. My scarred and chipped teeth dig into the soggy surface, the swollen gums straining under the light pressure as I take a desperate bite out of the revolting flesh.

As I pull my hand away and chew away at the poisonous fruit, I see blood marking the indentation made by my teeth. Alas my gums had started rotting alongside my whole being.
I licked the blood, tasting a familiar tang as I turned the rotting apple sideways to clean it of the crimson marking.

Stagnant reflection gives clear image
Your lifeless gaze sends chills down my spine
Touching your hands admits guilt
Clouded thoughts tempts desire
Coldness filling every void churns despair
Heart thrusts into throat upon a reality
This moment of fate marks my own pursuit
To which I released on your innocence
Destiny leading me closer
I sink into death's grasp and release last breath
Taking in your bitter departure light fades
Closure to misery bubbling to surface
A final plea of forgiveness echoes in silence

I am unable to grasp the complete concept of this work but the reflection of the moonlight on waters surface is one thing that managed to hit me. But to be honest I did not try to understand it that much since it managed to give off a wonderful feel.

The non-italic stanza's are like a chorus and while the repetition didn't register that much to me, I did like the expressions used. Then the Italics play with words, giving an eerie touch to the seemingly sad work. The chorus feels sad and the italics feel eerie in a nice way. as in I enjoyed the work.

So, sadly, I was unable to grasp the work but I did enjoy the read. Short and touching in a strange fashion.
